Shared Web Hosting: cPanel Tools

At Wired World Hosting, we provide full cPanel access to account management and web hosting tools that empowers our customers to be more productive and accomplish greater goals with cost in mind. These web-based graphical interface tools make it easy for our customers to quickly and easily manage their web hosting accounts and simplify web configurations.

Getting Started Wizard

Getting Started Wizard: Presented the first time you login to cPanel, this guide helps you become familiar with cPanel and helps with initial configuration.

Video Tutorials

Video Tutorials: Video tutorials on different aspects of using cPanel to configure your site. If you are not sure of how to go through some configuration options, we recommend you watching the video tutorials to get you more familiar with the configurations.

Change Password: Here you can change the password for you cPanel interface. This is not to be confused with passwords for emails, folders, or other password settings other than cPanel.

Update Contact Info

Update Contact Info: Change your primary contact email which will receive emails with information about your website. Information includes new information, when a user is reaching a quota set for email, and or other quotas set for users in your domain.

Change Language

Change Language: Change the language that is displayed in your cPanel page.


Email Accounts

Email Accounts: Add and configure email address for your domains. You can set size of email boxes, passwords, generate passwords, and disable email addresses.


Webmail: Provides access to your webmail through a web browser. This can be very beneficial to allow you to check your email via the web from anywhere where you have web access.

Email Forwarders

Forwarders: Send a copy of any incoming mail sent to a specific address to multiple addresses, allowing you to use one email address that is sent to multiple email accounts. You can also setup rules to discard emails.

Auto Responders

Auto Responders: Send automated response email messages. These messages can be used as an out of office response to a response to notify that the email message has be received.

Default Address

Default Address: Configure an email address that will receive any email that is sent to a non-existent address. Any email sent to your domain that has an incorrect “TO:” address will be sent to the email address you configure.

Mailing Lists

Mailing Lists: Create a mailing list. This list then can be linked to one email address. This allows you to send to a specific list without having to type each individual email address in the “TO:” field, simplifying sending emails to a group of people small or large.

Email Deliver Route

Email Deliver Route: A tool to provide you the route a outgoing email will follow on its way to the destination. Here you would provide an email address that you are sending to and the tool will provide you the information on where this email will go.

Import Address/Forwarders

Import Address/Forwarders: Bulk add email address or forwarders to you domain by a CSV (Comma Separated Value) or Excel spreadsheet. You can create a CSV or Excel file with a list of email address or forwarders you would like added to allow you ease of not having to enter them one by one.

Email Authentication

Email Authentication: Set preferences to combat spam. This will allow options to verify incoming email addresses are coming from the originator and not someone who is SPOOFING (Faking email address). This option will also allow you to change settings to keep spammers from using your domain to send spam.

MX Entry

MX Entry: Set MX (Mail Exchange) records to route a domains email to a specific email server, backup mail servers, and offsite mail servers. When changes are made it will be updated in the DNS.

MailScanner Configuration

MailScanner Configuration: Configure your spam mail filters. This allows you the power to filter out spam mails from coming into your site email addresses. Here you can block domains, email addresses, and scan emails for viruses. This tool is very important to verify any false positive emails that are being blocked but are valid emails that you would like to receive.



Backups: Download a compressed (Zipped) copy of either your entire site or individual sections. You can backup and download your home directory, databases, email forwarder configuration, and email filters configurations. This allows you to have an additional copy of your site for archive, local access, and import for future use. This is on top of the backups provided by Wired World Hosting.

Backup Wizard

Backup Wizard: An easier way of creating backups. This will provide a wizard that will ask questions about what you would like to back up. This provides partial backup where you can select the areas you would like to backup or a full backup of your entire site. This is a quick an easy way to do your backups if your not sure what you want backed up.

File Manager

File Manager: The File Manager is a web-based application for managing and manipulating files on your site. This will provide a familiar and comfortable interface that will allow you access to files on your site directly in your web browser without the use of FTP type applications. Here you can create new files, create new folders, copy files, upload / download files, compress files, delete and edit files.

Web Disk

Web Disk: Allows you to manipulate and manage files on your site using your PC’s interface. This allows you to create a drive on your PC linked to your site, which allows you to manipulate your site with drag and drop features from your PC. This gives a more natural way of managing and manipulating your site with all the comforts of your PC.

Disk Space Usage

Disk Space Usage: See the amount of space folders are using on your site. You can check the usage of each individual folder and a brief overview of your usage. This will not show the space of individual files for this you will need to use File Manager.

FTP Accounts

FTP Accounts: Create, change, and manage FTP (File Transfer Protocol) accounts. You can use these accounts to transfer files to and from your site. You can also limit certain users to different folders on your site. This allows more robust way of transferring large files compared through the webpage. However FTP requires a 3rd party FTP application to access through this option.

FTP Session Control

FTP Session Control: Manage who is connected to your site via FTP. You can view the current connections and terminate any connections that you feel should not be open. This will allow you to control who is entering your site via FTP and keep any unwanted users from accessing information.


Latest Visitors

Latest Visitors: View information on the last 300 visitors to your site. This will provide you detailed information of what type of browser was used, What IP address they were coming from, the site and the amount of data they transferred.


Bandwidth: View the bandwidth (Traffic) usage of your site. Here you can see Today’s traffic, week traffic, monthly traffic, and yearly traffic. This will also provide basic breakdowns on what services on your site are using traffic like Mail, Web, and FTP. Here you can see patterns of the times, which your site is being heavily access, and patterns on when visitors are hitting your site.


Webalizer: Webalizer provides you detailed stats on who, when, and where traffic is coming from and going to. This is detailed breakdown of what you would see on the Bandwidth page. This is an important tool to locate where your visitors are heading on your site and stats on that information to better understand your visitors and their patterns.

Webalizer FTP

Webalizer FTP: View stats on your FTP site. This will provide you graphs of usage and detailed information about what users are doing, where they are coming from, and what files they have been accessing. This tool is very powerful as it can provide you important detailed information to allow you to control your FTP site very closely.

Raw Access Logs

Raw Access Logs: Raw Access Logs allow you to access information of events on your site without the use of graphs, charts, and or graphics. These are text base logs on the happenings on your site. Here you can download a compressed (zipped) version of the logs directly to your PC to view. You will also have options to archive your logs to a directory on your site so that they are ready for you to download at your convenience.

Analog Stats

Analog Stats: Analog stats provides a simple summary of visitors to your site. This breaks down into monthly stats for where visitors are going. This is a more basic view than that of the Webalizer stats feature. This is a great option if you want to have a quick view of main users visiting your site and how many visitors your site had received in a months view.

Error Log

Error Log: The error log provides you the last 300 errors that have occurred on your site. This can be very useful to troubleshoot errors in code or configuration errors you may experience. This option is very important to help keep your site running smooth and keeping your site experience optimal.


Password Protect Directories

Password Protect Directories: Set folders on your site to be password protected. This provides you a simple interface to select folders you would like protected and assign usernames and passwords without having to code them individual. This will provide a great security feature for your site to allow only certain users access to delicate file.

IP Deny Manager

IP Deny Manager: The IP Deny Manger is a excellent security tool which allows you to block specific users from your site. Here you can enter an IP address that you want to block from accessing your site. You can also put in Domain names and the IP Deny Manager will try to resolve the IP addresses for you. This can be use to block users that are abusing your site or people trying to forcibly access your site for malicious reasons.

SSL/TLS Manager

SSL/TLS Manager: Generate SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificates, signing requests, and keys. Signing requests and keys will create the information to purchase SSL certificates from third party vendors to help secure your site. SSL certificates help to secure your site and encrypt valuable information transferred to and from your site. Credit cards, passwords, and documents can be sent over a secure encrypted link, which will keep unwanted users from accessing this information during transfer.

SSH/Shell Access

SSH/Shell Access: Create access to the shell account on your site. You can also create SSH connections, which are secure providing a secure way to transfer files to and from your site. SSH requires a certificate that can also be created on this page. Shell accounts are a way of having a text base interface where you can run commands, change files, and change security settings in a command line interface. If you do not have a SSH 3rd party application to access your shell account we have provided a web based application to use for this purpose.

HotLink Protection

HotLink Protection: Protect files from being directly linked from another site to your site. This will prevent links on other sites to link to specific files on your site. If you have a video you are hosting on your site and do not want someone to link them to another site without the visitor visiting your site, you can set specific options to deny this activity.

Leech Protect

Leech Protect: Prevent users from giving out their passwords or publicly posting their password to specific restricted areas on your site. You can deny users that abuse this and redirect them to a page of your choice. This will keep users that have provided their password to multiple people to download password protected content by suspending their account and sending them to a page to notify them of the activity.



Subdomains: Create subsections of your site called Subdomains. A Subdomain is a subsection as in “subsection.yourdomain.com. This is a prefix to the domain that you currently host. You can create these subsections to point to a different part of your site, another site, or even an off site location or server. This option is great for blogs, picture sites, or a management page. Please be aware that when creating a Subdomain it can take some time to be recognized by other people on the net.

Addon Domains

Parked Domains

Parked Domains: Point additional domains to the root domain that it is being hosted on. If 2.com is hosted on 1.com, you can point 2.com to 1.com website to provide a page for visitors to hit. This is very beneficial compared to having visitors being redirected to an error page that the domain does not exist.


Redirects: Redirect users visiting one page to another page. If a page has a long address you can use a short address and redirect the users to the page with the long address; helping visitors to remember short addresses instead of detailed long addresses.

Simple DNS Zone Editor

Simple DNS Zone Editor: Add and change DNS (Domain Naming Service) records. DNS creates human readable address to machine IP addresses. All addresses will need a DNS record to be a reference to point to a machine. When you have a subdomain that you want pointed to another servers, create a DNS record with the corresponding server IP address.

Advanced DNS Editor

Advanced DNS Editor: Create more advanced DNS (Domain Naming Service) records. You can specify very specific types of DNS records for special application and servers. This provides the same functionality plus additional features of the Simple DNS Zone Editor tool.


MySQL Databases

MySQL Databases: Create databases and manage users that will be accessing these databases. Create new users, delete current users, or change information for existing databases. Many applications require using Databases to store and retrieve information. You can also verify database names for your application configurations. If you are unsure of how to create your database we recommend trying the MySQL Database Wizard.

MySQL Database Wizard

MySQL Database Wizard: Create databases with a easy to use wizard which will ask you questions on the options you want to set on your database. If you are unsure on how to create these manually through the MySQL database tool this tool will make database creation easy.


phpMyAdmin: A third party tool included with cPanel that provides a web based interface to manage and manipulate databases. Many times you have to change information within your database for certain application updates and changes to your site. Add and drop databases, create, alter and delete information within these databases. Manage users, keys, permissions, and execute more advanced SQL queries.

Remote MySQL

Remote MySQL: Configure databases to be access remotely from other sites or your PC. This allows for you to manipulate your databases across many sites without being limited to one site. If you host multiple sites and want them to use the same database across all sites, this is where you would configure the options for this action


CGI Center

CGI Center: CGI (Common Gateway Interface) center allows you to configure your website to run software called scripts. CGI scripts will be ran from the local site instead of having them ran on the visitors PC. These scripts can be used for a multitude of different applications such as clocks, guestbook’s, and banner ads. Wired World hosting has provided scripts that can be utilized and configured for your site.

Site Software

Site Software: Add cPanel addons that can be used for site. Here you can install and manage addons that can control and provide different accessibility options for your site

Perl Modules

Perl Modules: Perl modules are pieces of software written in the Perl programming language. Install, search, and manage Perl modules with the option to install new modules from the CPAN repository. Perl modules can provide additional accessibility and automation to your site on the back end without having to manually completing functions.

PHP PEAR Packages

PHP PEAR Packages: Pear packages are pieces of software written in the PHP scripting language. cPanel allows you to add, remove, and change PHP PEAR packages to your site. To view the packages available, or search for a specific package use this option. These packages allow you to perform specific tasks in PHP scripting language that you may use on your site.

PHP Configuration

PHP Configuration: PHP Configuration overview of what is currently set for PHP settings. This is only a reference and does not allow you to make changes to the PHP configuration on the server.


Apache Handlers

Apache Handlers: Configure how Apache (Web Server) will deal with certain file types. When Apache sees a file, it has a action for that type of file, which will perform an action. You can configure the different actions that Apache will perform based on the file it accesses. If you created an application to deal with certain file types you can have Apache push the file to the application when the file is requested.

Image Manager

Image Manager: View and modify images in your account. Manage file size, convert file types, or view them with this tool. This tool provides a way to manipulate files from a web-based application without the need of downloading the file manipulating it and uploading them back to the site.

Index Manager

Index Manager: When you want a visitor to list a directory structure rather than view it as a page, the index manager will provide options of how that directory will be viewed. You can index the directory (list as directory), Standard indexing (showing file names only), Fancy indexing (Showing files and descriptions), or turn off indexing.

Error Pages

Error Pages: Create error pages for users to view with customization for your site. If you want all your error pages not to be shown as the default error layout, you can configure custom layout pages, custom messages, or no information from this page.

Cron Jobs

Cron Jobs: Cron Jobs allow you to automate certain commands and or scripts on your site. You can set jobs to run at different times to provide you automation ease. You can configure minute, hour, day, month, and weekday settings for your script or command to run. An example of a Cron job would be the deletion of temporary files your site creates during user visits.

FrontPage Extensions

FrontPage Extensions: Will allow pages to be created in Microsoft FrontPage application to be directly loaded to the site without the use of FTP. This can streamline the publishing process of your site and illuminate one step of the process. Please be aware that if you have passwords set for a directory on your site, the use of FrontPage extensions will remove the password protection.

Network Tools

Network Tools: Look up information about any domain or trace the route from the PC you use to access cPanel to your site. These tools can provide information to help with the configuration and security of your site. The lookup tool will allow you to validate domains that you may suspect might be abusing your site. The trace tool can help to find where you may have connectivity issue from the PC that you access cPanel to your site.
